Tattoo Artist: Philip Leu

This tattoo artist has one of the most interesting backgrounds I’ve ever heard of. Filip Leu is a second-generation tattooer. He was born in Paris in 1967 but traveled the world as a little boy. His parents began tattooing in 1978 and Filip was only 11 years old when he began to learn about the art of tattooing. He began to tattoo full time at the age of 15!

At 17 Filip took a world tour to learn more about other artists and finished up his tour with a year’s stay at Ed Hardy's Realistic Tattoo Studio.

In 2001 he co-founded the Art Fusion Experiment. He has collaborated painting events with other talented artists including Paul Booth and Guy Aitchison.

Filip prefers to do large pieces and uses large needle configurations. Much of his work his Japanese images in the form of large back pieces and body suits. His work has a smooth and perfect bold look.

He tattoos and paints in Switzerland where he resides with his wife Titine, and the rest of his family.
