Tattoo Artist: Jason Butcher

Jason Butcher hails from the UK and grew up in Chelmsford, England. Art was in his blood and he began showing his artistic side when he was a little guy. He began drawing when he was five or six years old.
He got his first tattoo when he turned eighteen but it was a few years before he really developed an appreciation for the art form. At the time, his sister was bugging him to draw up designs for her and showing him the work of some of the talented tattoo artists in the business. People like Paul Booth, Guy Aitchison, and Jack Rudy.
You might say that Butcher had a self-instructed apprenticeship. He’s not the only successful artist that has managed to teach himself how to tattoo, but it’s not recommended and it can be potentially dangerous. Jason’s case was different. He tried to get an apprenticeship but it just didn’t happen. So he bought some equipment and slowly taught himself. He said sterilization was a priority. He practiced line work and getting solid colors. From there he worked for a couple of studios.
He opened up his own shop, Immortal Ink in South Woodham Ferrers and now works strictly as a custom tattoo artist. He loves the dark subjects and works almost entirely in black and grey. He says he’s very grateful for the artistic freedom his clients grant him.
The shop is located in very small town but is very convenient to big cities surrounding the area. Jason also travels the convention circuit so you may be able to catch him in the states.
