Tattoo Artist: Jesse Smith
Jesse’s career wasn’t planned. It was something he fell into and lucky for us he did. He started after meeting a scratcher taught him how to make a tattoo machine. He then gave free tattoos and eventually invested in a professional machine.
Then he got serious. He put together a portfolio and persisted in pursuing a professional career for months before being accepted.
He says that’s when his real education in tattooing kicked in. Working out of his home for over a year was not conductive to growing as an artist. He’s now been tattooing for over seven years and is now a world tattoo traveler winning awards and gaining a respected reputation amongst tattoo artist. His style is bold and colorful. Much of his work includes cartoonish like characters.
His influences include Tim Biedron, Gunnar, Jason Stephan, and Jime Litwalk. His other great love is volleyball. He says his life is full with tattooing and volleyball. He likes to travel and you may be able to find him doing guest spots in various shops around the country or doing a tattoo convention near you.
